Stop arguing that Donald Trump is a racist.

Here’s an extremely boring suggestion. Stop yelling accusations. Stop trying to prove a point. The President has said and done lots of stuff. Can we at least agree on that? Take a break and let the record speak for itself.

So instead of giving you the millionth take about whether the President is or isn’t racist or xenophobic… I’ll just tell you what facts I considered in forming my opinion.

What I considered.

Draw your own conclusions about the guy…

  • who was sued multiple times going back decades, for housing discrimination. When black applicants applied with the Trump company, the applications were labeled “C” for “colored,” earmarking them for automatic rejection. (https://tinyurl.com/y6ja29qh)
  • who said Africans would never “go back to their huts” if they were let into the US. (https://tinyurl.com/y2qebys7)
  • who supported the US adopting explicit use of racial profiling: “I think profiling is something that we’re going to have to start thinking about as a country. Other countries do it… and they do it successfully. And I hate the concept of profiling, but we have to start using common sense and we have to use our heads…It’s not the worst thing to do.” (https://tinyurl.com/y654osuo)
  • who referred to people of Central American and African origin as coming from “sh**hole counties.” (https://tinyurl.com/y2qebys7)
  • who said the same people “all have AIDS.” (https://tinyurl.com/y4odq75a)
  • who said, “Why do we need more Haitians? Take them out,” … “We should have more people from places like Norway.” (https://tinyurl.com/yx9rkox9)
  • who voiced support for creating a government registry for Muslims: When asked if “there should be a database or system that tracks Muslims in this country,” he responded, “There should be a lot of systems. Beyond databases. I mean, we should have a lot of systems.” When asked again about would he would implement a Muslim registry, Trump said “absolutely … it would just be good management.” (https://tinyurl.com/jrp3r8q)
  • who scuttled government studies showing refugees in the US positively impact the economy — which undercut his rhetoric on the issue. (https://tinyurl.com/y6tquosa)
  • who constantly spreads 100% incorrect stats about immigrants (false crimes stats, false border crossing stats, false economic stats… pick almost anything). (https://tinyurl.com/yamuxws7)
  • who said an Indiana-born judge couldn’t be trusted in his ruling because “He’s a Mexican.” (https://tinyurl.com/yay3qopu)
  • whose casino had to pay six-figure fines because black and female dealers were transferred off tables when certain high-rolling gamblers played. (https://tinyurl.com/y48g7ovv)
  • who proposed a “whites against blacks” season of ‘The Apprentice.” (https://tinyurl.com/yxknww95)
  • who ran on the promise of “a complete and total shutdown of Muslims entering the United States” and then, in his first executive order, implemented a ban from Muslim countries. (https://tinyurl.com/y3r9dnzs)
  • who said four members of Congress (all ethnic minorities, including three native-born citizens and one who emigrated from Africa as a child) should “go back” to where they came from and stop telling “us” how “our” government should be run. (https://tinyurl.com/yy3yyy99)
  • who falsely claimed an African-born congresswoman is a terrorist sympathizer and praised al-Qaeda. (https://tinyurl.com/y2wm9sdf)
  • who referred to a Latina paegent winner as “Mrs. Housekeeping” because of her ethnicity. (https://tinyurl.com/y5bzpxty) https://tinyurl.com/y6nt6tdf
  • who said “Laziness is a trait in blacks.” … “Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day.” (Trump first admitted that the book containing this account was “probably true,” but he reversed course and denied it, years later.) (https://tinyurl.com/yxvrldbz)
  • who falsely claimed that President Obama, “issued a statement for Kwanzaa but failed to issue one for Christmas.” (https://tinyurl.com/y2vj5h87)
  • who appointed self-proclaimed promoters of the Alt-right movement to his cabinet. (https://tinyurl.com/yy2b6sva)(https://tinyurl.com/y6nt6tdf)
  • who mocked the accents of leaders of our Asian allies. (https://tinyurl.com/y3umsskm).
  • who, after a woman was murdered by a white supremacist at white nationalist rally, made sure we knew there were “fine people on both sides.” (https://tinyurl.com/y9wejc7z)
  • who retweeted content from white nationalists, including those with “white genocide” monikers. (https://tinyurl.com/y42cjohb)
  • who endorsed and actively campaigned for a political candidate who opposed allowing Muslims to serve in American government. (https://tinyurl.com/yxlcaotp) (https://tinyurl.com/y4crz47h)
  • who spearheaded the “birther” movement accusing Barack Obama of not being an American (despite no supporting evidence).
  • who promoted wildly false crime statistics exponentially inflating the rate that white people are killed by black people. https://tinyurl.com/y68932gd)
  • who welcomed chants of “Send her back! Send her back!” (parroting his own “go back where you came from” statement days earlier) at a rally regarding a Somali immigrant serving in Congress. (https://tinyurl.com/yy8ueux6)

What I didn’t consider.

Here’s what I didn’t factor in— because it just wouldn’t be fair:

  • The KKK’s official newspaper endorsed Trump for president in 2016. How is he supposed to stop the Ku Klux Klan from endorsing him? Not fair. (https://tinyurl.com/y4tsot8v)
  • Publicly avowed white supremacists constantly praise Trump and see him as a fulfillment of their vision to “take our country back.” How can he control whether virulent racists think he’ll advance their virulently racist goals? (https://tinyurl.com/yxvp3464) (https://tinyurl.com/y4natp8m)
  • Mass killers who have shot up mosques and committed other acts of violence against minorities have cited Trump as a “symbol of white supremacy” (direct quote from a mass killer). How is he supposed to stop white supremacist murders from seeing him as a symbol of their racist cause? Not fair. (https://tinyurl.com/yxkpj8pg)
  • Abroad, many white supremacists have adopted red Trump hats as a symbol of their cause. How is Trump supposed to control whether open racists see his branded items as symbols of their open racism?(https://tinyurl.com/y4249p6v)
  • White supremacists declare “This is the kind of WHITE NATIONALISM we elected him for,” in response to Trump’s rhetoric. How is he supposed to control whether white nationalists see him as advancing white nationalism? Totally not fair. (https://tinyurl.com/y2fl5gbj)

Conclusion.

No concluding argument provided. That’s the whole point.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
