If you’re not a regular Fox News viewer but you thought you’d dip in for a minute or two last night, here’s what you and the rest of the prime-time audience heard from Tucker Carlson:

“White Supremacy is actually not a real problem in America… This is a hoax… It’s a conspiracy theory to divide the country and keep a hold on power.”

This is, of course, 72 hours after a white supremacist killed 22 people in his plot to “kill as many Mexicans as possible,” in a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas.

Though 22 people dead from a white supremacist terror attack probably qualifies as “a real problem” to most people, let’s give Carlson the benefit of the doubt — that’s just one incident right?

Not really.

In May, the FBI stated that it was investigating 850 domestic terrorism cases and that of those, about 40 PERCENT involved racially motivated extremists, mostly white supremacists. By that date, the bureau had arrested about 100 individuals related to domestic terrorism in the previous nine months, and most investigations involved some form of white supremacy. Within the last ten years, 75% of the murders committed by extremists have been rooted in white supremacism.

What a relief to hear this otherwise huge risk is actually just a hoax!
